Vaginal metastases from hypernephroma are rare. A review of the litera ture reveals only 16 such cases. Yet in the last twenty-eightmonths we have seen 4 cases. The essential autopsy findings were as follows. The renal cell carcinoma (formerly hypernephroma) comprises approx. 85% of all malignant kidney tumors. Other forms are the urothelium carcinoma originating from the renal pelvis (10 %), non-Hodgkin lymphomas, sarcomas, and the nephroblastomas occurring in childhood (Wilms' tumor). Hypernephroma metastasis

Brain metastasis in hypernephroma. Gay PC, Litchy WJ, Cascino TL. Of 926 patients with hypernephroma, 36 (3.9%) had metastasis to the brain. The median age at presentation was 61 years (range, 34 to 82). Nineteen patients had a single lesion metastatic to the brain, and 16 of these lesions were supratentorial.

Lubarsch, in mentioning the various probable sites of metastasis in hypernephroma, includes the vagina as a rare location, though he believes that this form of metastasis is more common than is generally supposed, many cases appearing Rusche (1953) observed hypernephroma in 2 brothers. Both had distant metastasis as the first manifestation and both were in their early thirties at the time of diagnosis. Brinton (1960) described a family in which 2 brothers and a sister had hypernephroma. The father had died of kidney tumor and the mother of cancer, site unstated.
